BoI hires UK acquisition finance head

The Bank of Ireland has appointed a UK head of acquisition finance as it looks to focus on leading larger transactions across Europe.

Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking has appointed Peter Dunsby as UK managing director of its global acquisition finance division.

Dunsby joins Bank of Ireland from CIBC World Markets in London, where he was executive director of its European leveraged finance business.  He will be responsible for arranging private equity sponsor backed transactions in the UK, Benelux, Scandinavian, Iberian and Italian markets.

David Walsh, Bank of Ireland’s head of European acquisition finance, said Dunsby would be invaluable as the company tries to focus on larger lead arranging opportunities across the UK and Europe.

Before joining CIBC, Dunsby worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London and Paris, and at Deloitte & Touche.

The appointment follows the restructuring of the acquisition finance team earlier this year. The team specialises in funding sponsor-backed transactions throughout Europe and the US and has offices in Dublin, Paris, Frankfurt and Stamford, Connecticut as well as London.

The bank said further appointments will be made in the near future.
