Bridgepoint recruits chairman for Nordic arm

Mikael Lövgren, formerly senior vice president and director at Boston Consulting Group, will be chairman of Bridgepoint’s Nordic activities.

European mid-market firm Bridgepoint has appointed Mikael Lövgren as chairman of its Nordic business, based in Stockholm.
Lövgren has spent the last 20 years at Boston Consulting Group, where he held a number of positions including managing director of its Nordic business and head of its Nordic healthcare practice group. Most recently, Lövgren was senior vice president and director, based in Stockholm.
Lövgren is also a member of the boards of Nordic property consultancy Newsec and biotech company Ellen.
Bridgepoint’s Stockholm-based Nordic team is headed up by partner Graham Oldroyd and has made nine investments to date.
According to James Murray, partner in Bridgepoint’s London office, the firm has been investing in the Nordic region since 1995, initially from its London base. The Stockholm office was opened in 2001 and currently has four full-time executives, including Oldroyd.
In March 2005, Bridgepoint acquired Swedish elderly care homes business Attendo for €245 million ($300 million). In November, the firm purchased A-Katsastus, a Finland-based vehicle inspection company, from MB Funds, Tapiola, Finnish Industry Investment and Varma Mutual Pension Fund for an undisclosed sum.
