Calyon installs Bank of Ireland buyout bankers

French bank Calyon has hired six leveraged buy-out bankers from Bank of Ireland as investment banks continue to compete for the top talent in private equity.

Calyon has hired six leveraged buyout bankers for its UK financial sponsors group. The bankers were hired from Bank of Ireland.

Grant Gardiner becomes managing director – previously he was in charge of UK acquisition finance at Bank of Ireland – Allan Clawson and Nathan Hawkes executive directors, Nick Bellis as a director, Chris Bowden as an assistant director and Lucy Morley as an associate.

Julie Chevailler is shifted internally from Germany to Calyon’s London operations.

They will report to Rob Bonfield who now leads a team of 11 with more anticipated by the bank. Bonfield has been involved in leveraged buy-outs since 1988.

In turn, on 16 April CIBC lost its executive director of European buy-outs, Peter Dunsby, to Bank of Ireland.
