Houlihan Lokey hired Heather Smith as a managing director and head of structured equity in the firm's capital markets group. Smith joined the investment bank from Sagent Advisors, where she led private financing solutions group. She previously worked in the private placement groups at Deutsche Bank and Greentech Capital.

Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) has launched its European hub via a new London-based office. The initiative is intended to increase the Canadian pension's fund's European exposure across a range of asset classes. The hub's leadership includes Simon Marc, managing director of private equity, Oliver Duff, managing director of principal debt and credit investments, and Patrick Charbonneau, managing director of infrastructure investments. PSP's recent European activity includes last month's acquisition of Paris-based Cerba HealthCare SAS, a deal done alongside Partners Group.

Arsenal Capital Partners promoted Joe Rooney to principal, and Robbie Cahill and Andrew Hudelson to senior associate. Rooney joined Arsenal in 2009 as an associate and is a member of the board of FrontStream Payment. Cahill joined as an associate in 2014 from Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Hudelson joined as an associate in 2015 from TPG Growth.

Home Capital Group Inc (TSX: HCG) has appointed Claude Lamoureux and Paul Haggis to its board of directors. Lamoureux is the former President and CEO of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, a role he held between 1990 and 2007. Haggis is the former CEO of Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS), a role he held between 2003 and 2007. Home Capital, a Toronto-based alternative mortgage lender, is currently the focus of potential acquisition bids by Canadian and U.S. private equity firms, according to a Reuters report.
