Natixis appointed David S. Daniels as managing director, head of financial sponsor coverage Americas. Daniels joins from Nomura Securities International and brings experience working with private equity firms. Natixis, which recently acquired investment banking advisory firm Peter J Solomon, is the international financial services arm of France's Groupe BPCE.

Gunter is the former director of due diligence and direct investments at ProEquities Inc while Karansky previously worked at DePrince, Race & Zollo Inc where he served as the lead energy analyst.

Symphogen said Aug. 18 that CEO Kirsten Drejer is stepping down and will become an independent member of the Board. Martin Olin, current Symphogen CFO, will become CEO effective Sept. 1. Copenhagen-based Symphogen, a biopharmaceutical company, is backed by investors including Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, Novo A/S, PKA, Sunstone Capital, Gilde Healthcare Partners, Danica Pension, Takeda Ventures Inc and Genentech.

Benihana Inc, which is backed by Angelo, Gordon & Co, has appointed Thomas J. Baldwin CEO and president. Baldwin is the former chairman, CEO and president of Morton's Restaurant Group. Based in Aventura, Florida, Benihana is an operator of Japanese Teppanyaki and Sushi restaurants with 100 restaurants nationwide.

Thoma Bravo has named Hudson Smith as a partner. Previously, Smith worked at HGGC, where he led the firm’s tech investments. In addition to Smith, the private equity firm has also hired Matt Gilbert and AJ Jangalapalli as vice presidents. Prior to joining Thoma Bravo, Gilbert worked at Summit Partners while Jangalapalli is a recent MBA graduate from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

William Blair is expanding its leveraged finance investment banking team with several new hires. The investment bank and asset manager has named Jeff Zolkin as managing director and head of high-yield finance and Jonathan Lee as director of high-yield finance to the firm's Los Angeles office. Also, the firm has appointed Paul Majeski as vice president of high-yield finance for the New York office. Previously, all worked at Imperial Capital before coming to William Blair.

United Road Services, a portfolio company of Charlesbank Capital Partners, said Aug. 16 that Mark Anderson was named President. This is in addition to his role as Chief Operating Officer. Kathleen McCann, United Road's CEO, will also assume the position of Chairman of the Board. She replaces Michael Eisenson, Managing Director and CEO of Charlesbank, United Road’s majority owner.
