London-based private equity firm Doughty Hanson has appointed Jan Amethier as a senior principal, focusing on the Nordic region.

Swedish national Amethier, 44, will join Doughty Hanson at the beginning of July in the firm’s Stockholm office.

Amethier moves to Doughty Hanson from JP Morgan, where he has been head of Nordic investment banking since 2003, having joined in 1994. He also co-headed the bank’s European M&A group.

Between 1992 and 1994, Amethier was a special advisor on privatisations for the Swedish Ministry of Industry & Commerce and was on the boards of two Swedish companies: energy group Vattenfall and packaging business AssiDomän.Â

Before that, Amethier worked in the London and New York M&A departments of Goldman Sachs and as a strategy consultant at Boston Consulting Group.

Doughty Hanson has 26 investment professionals operating out of offices in London, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Milan and Paris. The firm is currently investing from its Doughty Hanson & Co IV vehicle, which closed on €1.6 billion ($1.9 billion) in January 2005.
Doughty Hanson bolsters Nordic operations
Jan Amethier, a 12-year veteran of JP Morgan, will join the European mid-market investor this July to focus on the firm’s investments in the Nordic region.
