Eversheds names private equity head

The London-based law firm has promoted partner Richard Moulton to lead its private equity practice as former head Mark Spinner takes over the firm's corporate practice.

Richard Moulton has been named head of private equity for Eversheds, replacing Mark Spinner, who will continue to be involved in the private equity group.

Moulton will have responsibility for leading the firm’s private equity group, overseeing a team that works with clients on everything from investments to exits, said a spokesperson.

Meanwhile, Spinner has become head of the wider corporate practice group. Spinner led Eversheds’ private equity group for eight years.

Moulton, who joined Eversheds in 2003, has more than 15 years’ experience in the private equity sector.  His direct clients include ECI Partners, Inflexion, CBPE Capital, Gresham and Baird Capital Partners Europe.

“The private equity market is picking up, industry-wide there have been more deals to date in 2010 than in the whole of 2009 and we are seeing this increased confidence with an extremely active client base,” said Moulton, in a statement.
