Strategic Value Partners (SVP), an alternative investment firm that specialises in distressed opportunities, has hired Anthony O’Carroll, PEI has learnt.
O'Carroll, a former director at London-listed 3i Group, joined SVP as an operating director in March 2015, having spent three years at the London-listed group, according to his LinkedIn page.
Prior to that, O’Carroll was a non-executive director at MKB Building Supplies. Between 2007 and 2011 he was a senior principal at TowerBrook Capital Partners and before that he worked at Bain & Company as a senior manager for almost a decade.
Both 3i and SVP declined to comment.
The appointment of O’Carroll comes shortly after SVP lost a senior operating director. Johan van de Steen, SVP’s head of portfolio group, who held previous positions at Vision Capital and
KKR, left the firm in December to become head of portfolio at Renova Management in Zurich, PEI revealed at the time.
SVP manages approximately $5 billion across hedge fund and private equity strategies. It employs around 100 people across its four main offices: Greenwich in Connecticut, London, Tokyo and Frankfurt. Last December the firm closed its third special situations fund on $1.31 billion, beating its $1 billion target.
