China-focused private equity firm FountainVest Partners has hired Andrew Huang, a former managing director and head of China mergers and acquisitions at Goldman Sachs, as a managing director at the firm, Huang wrote on his LinkedIn profile.
Huang joins Mingfang Lu, Wei Cai, Terry Hu, George Chuang, Chenning Zao and chief executive Frank Tang as MDs at FountainVest.
Prior to joining the firm, he spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs and worked at the M&A division at Goldman’s Hong Kong office. Earlier in his career, he was a financial analyst at the investment bank, before leaving for start-up media company Pan Media in 2003, where he remained as CFO until 2005.
FountainVest is currently deploying its largest fund to date, FountainVest China Capital Partners Fund III, which closed on $2.1 billion in September last year. The firm’s investment theme is focused on China’s growing middle class and its move towards a consumption-led economy.
The firm has over $4.5 billion in assets under management and has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.
