New York-based GoldenTree Asset Management has hired Dean Merritt as partner. In the new role Merritt will focus on European restructurings and turnarounds.
He will be based in the firm’s London office, reporting to Ted Lodge global head of restructurings and turnarounds.
“We have worked with Dean for years and are very excited to be joining forces with him in Europe,” said Steve Tananbaum, GoldenTree’s managing partner and chief investment officer.
Prior to joining GoldenTree, Merritt was a partner at London-based specialist restructuring boutique, Talbot Hughes McKillop. His most recent restructuring work there included a role as chief restructuring officer of Punch Taverns.
GoldenTree was most recently involved in one of the largest ABS transactions so far this year. The firm acquired all of the assets of Origen Financial, a real estate investment trust. Chicago-based HAS Capital was also involved in the deal, valued at $412 million.
