GoldPoint appoints Scott Higbee senior managing principal

New York Life private equity affiliate brings Partners Group veteran aboard to bolster its deal origination and business development activities.

GoldPoint Partners has appointed former Partners Group executive Scott Higbee as a senior managing principal.

Higbee will serve as head of business development at the private equity affiliate of New York Life Investments, assisting with deal origination, fundraising and new product development and sit on the firm’s investment committees.

He spent the last eight of his 14 years in private equity at Partners Group in New York, where his responsibilities included deal sourcing and managing client relationships. Prior to Partners Group, Higbee was a senior associate in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ capital markets practice in New York, where he served its broker-dealer and private equity fund clients.

Higbee will report to GoldPoint chief executive Thomas Haubenstricker.

Higbee’s appointment follows GoldPoint’s hire of former Blackstone finance executive and senior vice president Sean Gelb in June as its chief financial officer.

GoldPoint manages $10.2 billion in private equity and mezzanine debt assets, including $1.5 billion of equity co-investments and other limited partner interests, on behalf of pension funds, financial institutions, wealthy individuals and New York Life Insurance Company.

The firm is the successor to New York Life Capital Partners, which GoldPoint’s senior executive team led by John Schumacher formed in 1999 when the principals raised third party capital. In 2012, it was rebranded GoldPoint.

The firm closed its fifth equity co-investment fund at $575 million in January, as reported by Private Equity International.
