Hellman & Friedman raises $16bn

The San Francisco-based firm has raised one of the largest private equity funds this year for its ninth flagship fund.

Hellman & Friedman has corralled $16 billion for Hellman & Friedman Capital Partners IX, against its initial fundraising target of $15 billion.

The fund will focus on investments in seven core sectors: software; financial services; business and business information services; healthcare; internet and media; energy and industrials; and retail and consumer.

The fund attracted commitments from Los Angeles County Employees’ Retirement Association, Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board and New Mexico State Investment Council.
