London-based buyout firm HgCapital has appointed Tom Maddison to its newly created post of head of portfolio talent, the firm said in a statement.
When Maddison joins the firm in August, he will focus on developing talent within Hg’s portfolio businesses, and also within the firm itself. Previously he was global human resources director at Xerox Corporation and a member of its executive committee.
“Managing and supporting talent is a key focus for HgCapital, especially as this is not traditionally an area on which the broader private equity universe has been focused,” Hg managing partner Nic Humphries said in the statement.
The appointment follows the creation of the role of head of human capital at Baird Capital and the appointment of Melissa Mounce in September to lead recruitment for that firm and its portfolio companies, as reported by Private Equity International.
In May, HgCapital, which focuses on established business in western Europe, announced that it had invested in UK software company The Foundry Visionmongers through its Fund 7, which is now 41 percent invested, as reported by Private Equity International. The fund closed in 2013 at £2 billion ($3.2 billion; €2.8 billion). Hg acquired the majority stake from The Carlyle Group.
