High Road adds partner from Marlin Equity

Steven Siwinski has joined the mid-market firm as a finance operating partner.

High Road Capital Partners has hired Steven Siwinski as a finance operating partner, according to a statement.

Siwinski joins High Road from Marlin Equity Partners where he worked as a finance operating partner and group finance director since January 2012. He previously spent a year as a managing director at Park Crest Advisors and one year as vice president of strategic and financial planning at organic food company The Hain Celestial Group, according to his LinkedIn profile. Siwinski was also a managing director at FTI Consulting for one year and spent 17 years as a partner in the transaction and advisory services group at EY.

High Road's seventh partner, Siwinski will focus on integrating add-on acquisitions across High Road’s portfolio companies.

High Road also hired Scott Rubino as vice president to focus on new platform acquisitions and portfolio company add-ons. Rubino has worked at CI Capital Partners and Saw Mill Capital. Last December, High Road promoted principal Ben Schnakenberg to partner. Schnakenberg joined the firm in 2008 and has focused on six platform acquisitions and nine add-on acquisitions.

High Road closed its Fund II on its $320 million hard-cap in December. The firm took less than 12 months to raise the fund, which had a $200 million target. High Road’s debut fund closed on $153 million in 2009.

High Road makes control investments in the lower mid-market in the US and Canada. The firm targets the manufacturing, distribution, media and healthcare companies with earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of between $3 million and $10 million and revenues of between $10 million and $100 million, according to its website. On 5 February, High Road made its first acquisition of 2014, acquiring General Tools & Instruments, which creates specialty hand tools and test instruments. The acquisition is High Road’s third from its Fund II, according to a statement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“We’re seeing a lot of interesting opportunities right now and think it’s a great time to invest.  We hope to maintain the pace that we’ve achieved to date throughout the year,” managing partner Bob Fitzsimmons wrote in an email to Private Equity International.

High Road was founded in 2007 by Fitzsimmons and partners William Connell and Jeffrey Goodrich, who previously worked together at The Riverside Company. The firm is based in New York.
