Illinois Teachers’ confirms $140m in commitments

The US-based public pension has backed $140m-worth of commitments in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois has confirmed $140 million-worth of commitments across their private equity funds, according to their board meeting late October.

Within the System’s $10.2 billion private equity portfolio, a commitment of $105 million was made to Inflexion Buyout Fund VI. A total of $35 million was committed to two Sky9 Capital vehicles: $25 million to Sky9 Capital Fund V and $10 million to Sky9 Capital MVP Fund II.

TRS has made previous commitments totalling $150 million to Inflexion, while Sky9 Capital is a new investment relationship for the pension.

The $63.6 billion institution currently invest 14.1 percent to private equity with a target of 15 percent. The pension’s recent fund commitments have predominantly targeted global or US-focused buyout and venture capital.
