InnovationsKapital hires Falkevall for ICT

Nordic early-stage investor InnovationsKapital has hired former CapMan Capital Management partner Martin Falkevall as it approaches a second close on its fourth fund.

Stockholm-based early-stage venture capital firm InnovationsKapital has appointed Martin Falkevall as an investment director in its information and communication technology (ICT) team.

Falkevall, 36, was previously at Nordic venture capital firms Swedestart Management, an ICT and life sciences specialist, and CapMan Capital Management. He joined Swedestart in 1997 as an analyst, before becoming a partner in 2000.

Falkevall remained with Swedestart until it was acquired by CapMan in 2002 for approximately €17 million ($22 million), at which point he became a partner at CapMan.

Falkevall has joined Staffan Ingeborn, managing investment director, investment directors Jonas Risberg and Peder Holm, and associate Fredrik Cronqvist in InnovationsKapital’s ICT team.

InnovationsKapital is currently investing from its InnKap 3 fund, which closed on €132 million in 2001 and is now almost fully invested. According to Ingeborn, InnKap 4, which held a first close on €76 million last October, is near to reaching a second close. The vehicle has a target of €135 million.

Founded in 1994, InnovationsKapital also has an office in Gothenburg and focuses on the ICT and healthcare and life sciences sectors. The firm appointed former Carnegie Asset Manager senior portfolio manager Ulf Tossman as an investment director last August.
