JMI Equity has promoted Charles Dieveney to chief operating officer and Randy Guttman to chief financial officer, effective 1 July. The role of COO is a newly created position at JMI.
Dieveney joined JMI Equity in 2005 and most recently was CFO of the firm. Dieveney previously worked as a principal at Allied Capital and was a partner and CFO at ABS Capital Partners.
Guttman has been with JMI Equity since 2007 and has filled the CFO position left vacant by Dieveney. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the assurance and advisory business services unit of Ernst & Young. Both Dieveney and Guttman are based in JMI’s Baltimore headquarters.
The promotions also include former vice presidents Matt Emery and David Greenberg being appointed to principals in San Diego and Baltimore, respectively.
“With our current team, we are very well positioned to execute against our growth-focused value creation strategy for many years to come,” said Harry Gruner, managing general partner of JMI Equity, in a statement.
JMI Equity is investing its $875 million Fund VII that closed in 2010. In May, one of the firm’s portfolio companies, Halogen Software, raised more than $50 million in an initial public offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
JMI Equity invests in software, Internet, business services and healthcare IT companies and manages more than $2.1 billion of committed capital. The firm was founded in 1992 and has invested in 110 businesses in its target markets, providing capital for growth, recapitalisations, acquisitions and buyouts.
