Monument expands partnership by six

The Boston-based private equity placement agent has expanded its partnership on both sides of the Atlantic.

Monument Group, a US private equity placement agent which has been undergoing significant expansion in the past year, is growing further by promoting six individuals to partner.

Two of the promotions were made in its London office, which was established in November 2005 to bolster the firm’s presence in Europe. Martin Anthonsen, formerly senior investment manager at Nordic Alternative Investment Advisors AB and Länsförsäkringar AB, and Laurence Zage, who joined from Monument rival Helix Associates, become partner. Athonsen and Zage were hired as managing directors last year.

The remaining four new partners are based in the firm’s headquarters in Boston.

Lori Campana, a managing director, joined Monument in 2003 from Atlantic Trust Pell Rudman, an investment management firm.

Bart Molloy, also a managing director, joined in 2002 from Audax Group, a private equity firm.

Teresa Kinsella, principal and chief operating officer of Monument, joined in 2001 after sixteen years in various positions with the Massachusetts state government.

Ryan Mueller, a principal, joined in 2003 from Commonfund Capital.

According to its website, Monument has placed more than $51 billion since the firm’s inception in 1994. The firm was founded by John McLaren, who was managing director of alternative assets for the Virginia state pension fund, and Alicia Cooney, formerly of Cambridge Associates, a consulting firm.

Monument is currently advising Apax Partners spin out Vitruvian Partners, led by Toby Wyles in the UK, among other clients.
