Ian Burgess, who advised Acanthus on its fund placement and corporate advisory mandates, has now joined the firm full-time.
Before advising Acanthus, Burgess spent 11 years as an equities research analyst, initially with BZW Securities and then CSFB. He was involved in private equity exits as lead analyst and also engaged in company valuation work. At Acanthus, he will focus on research, analysis and due diligence.
In September, Acanthus hired former RVC Europe director Laurent de Rosiere to join its fundraising team and work on sourcing new mandates alongside the firm’s founder Armando d’Amico.
Acanthus, set up in 1998, provides primary and secondary fund placement as well as corporate finance services. Since inception it has advised general partners and fund sponsors in Europe and Israel on capital raising, joint partnerships, fund conception and structuring. Acanthus has also advised fund of funds managers in fund screening and selection.
The firm is currently co-ordinating fundraising on behalf of Natexis Cape, a E100-E110m fund for small cap buyouts in Italy, and Pragma Capital, a French mid-market fund targeting E350m-E400m.
