Société Générale Asset Management, the French investment management group with more than €300 billion in assets, has promoted Olivier Lecler to chief executive officer of SGAM Alternative Investments.
Prior to the appointment, Lecler had a number of senior management roles at SGAM Group, which he joined in 2006.
In his new job, Lecler will oversee a multi-strategy investment operation with 400 employees and €41.8 billion under management as at 31st March 2008.
Among SGAM Alternative Investments’ business lines are a €7.6 billion hedge fund operation, a €1.1 billion real estate investment group and a €1.7 billion private equity platform.
The private equity business was established in 1999 and comprises funds investing in new technology venture capital, expansion capital, LBOs and third-party private equity funds. Geographically, the focus is on Europe and emerging markets.
