Sovereign adds to deal team

Sovereign Capital, a London-based mid-market private equity firm, has increased its investment team to 17 with the appointment of investment manager Mark Williams.

Sovereign Capital, a UK buy-and-build specialist, has recruited Mark Williams as investment manager.

Williams has joined from BA Capital Partners Europe, the European private equity arm of Bank of America, where he worked on UK and European private equity deals for the past three years. Before that, he began his career at Close Brothers Corporate Finance.

Williams is the fifth appointment Sovereign Capital has made over the last year and brings its investment team to 17.

Williams: fifth appointment at Sovereign in past year

Since the departure of managing director Peter Brooks last October, Sovereign Capital has handed over his responsibilities to senior partners Andrew Hayden and Ryan Robson, appointed Phil Hinson as an assistant director and promoted Dominic Dalli and Simon Hitchcock to director and Jose Rodriguez to investment manager.

Brooks returned to investing in June, joining UK member-based investment firm Pi Capital as managing director and partner.

In the same period, Sovereign Capital has completed five buy-and-build platform investments, 12 portfolio acquisitions and the £130 million (€190 million) sale of Senad Group, a specialist education provider, generating an IRR of 110 percent and a six-times money multiple.
