The recent headlines coming out of the US may have been dominated by the extraordinary political row over the debt ceiling.
But talk to pretty much any big LP around the world, and they’ll tell you that on a risk-adjusted basis, the US mid-market is just about the most attractive place to invest in the world right now – with its experienced managers, good flow of investable opportunities, strong and liquid financing market, and stable regulatory framework.
The US is still home to a large proportion of the world’s LP capital, too. At a time when US investors are feeling understandably nervous about emerging markets and the Eurozone, that should also be good news for domestic managers.
