Leerink Revelation Partners and Industry Ventures-led investors acquires Three Arch's shares in AcelRx

Investors led by Leerink Revelation Partners and Industry Ventures have acquired all of the shares that were held by Three Arch in AcelRx Pharmaceuticals Inc, a specialty pharmaceutical company. No financial terms were disclosed for this secondary deal.

NEA promotes two to GP

New Enterprise Associates Inc has promoted Carmen Chang and Dr. Ali Behbahani to general partner. Chang joined NEA in 2012 while Behbahani came on board in 2007.

NEA taps Golden as partner and names three as principals

New Enterprise Associates has named Jonathan Golden as a partner. Also, the venture firm has appointed Dr. Matthew McAviney, Dr. Tak Cheung and Dr. Santhosh Palani as principals on the healthcare team. Prior to joining NEA, Golden was director of product at Airbnb; McAviney was a principal at F-Prime Capital Partners; Cheung was a venture partner at Merieux Development Venture Fund; and Palani was a vice president in equity research at Cowen & Company.

Sonnen takes in funding from Shell Ventures-led round

Sonnen, a German operator of an energy sharing platform, has secured 60 million euros in funding. Shell Ventures led the round.

Kronos Bio inks $18 mln seed

New York City and Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Kronos Bio Inc, a developer of "first-in-class therapies against historically intractable targets," has raised $18 million in seed funding. The investors included Omega Funds, Vida Ventures LLC and BellCo Capital. In addition to the funding, Kronos Bio appointed Norbert Bischofberger as president and CEO. Previously, Bischofberger worked at Gilead Sciences where he most recently was executive vice president, research and development and chief scientific officer.

Gilde Healthcare and Versant Ventures leads funding round for Lava Therapeutics

Lava Therapeutics, a Dutch biotech company, has raised 16 million euros in funding. Gilde Healthcare and Versant Ventures led the round with participation from MRL Ventures Fund, Lupus Ventures and Biox Biosciences.

eLichens grabs funding

France and Sunnyvale, California-based eLichens, a provider of an air quality analysis and prediction platform, has secured 7 million euros in funding. The company's investors include Demeter, Sofimac Innovatio, Business Angels Networks, Aereco, Fonds Ville de Demain managed by Bpifrance as part of the Future Investment Program and BNP Paribas Développement.

GV provides funding to AI startup Owkin

Owkin, an artificial intelligence startup that uses machine learning to augment medical and biology research, has raised an additional amount of Series A funding, giving it a total tally of $18 million. The investor was GV.

Platform.sh scores $34 mln Series C

Paris and San Francisco-based Platform.sh, a provider of an idea-to-cloud application platform that simplifies cloud infrastructures, has secured $34 million in Series C funding. Partech led the round with participation from Idinvest Partners, Benhamou Global Ventures, SNCF Digital Ventures and Hi Inov.

SignalFx raises $45 mln led by General Catalyst

San Mateo, California-based SignalFx, a provider of real-time operational intelligence for data-driven DevOps, announced it has raised $45 million in Series D funding. General Catalyst led the round with participation from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz and CRV. the company, founded in 2013, has now raised $103.5 million in total funding. As part of the latest round, Stephen Herrod, a general partner at General Catalyst, has joined the board.
