Ortho Regenerative Technologies Inc (Ortho RTI) has appointed Dr. Brent Norton as its executive chairman and acting CEO. He succeeds Edward Margerrison, who is leaving for a new position. Norton joins Ortho RTI from Canadian life sciences venture capital firm Lumira Capital, where he served as a venture partner. He also worked as a senior executive and director for several life sciences companies. Kirkland, Québec's Ortho RTI is a developer of technology products that treat unmet needs in the orthopaedic market.

Previously, Fitz worked at MapR where he served as senior vice president of worldwide field operations. Canadian private markets investor Northleaf Capital Partners has appointed Jeanette White to lead the firm's human resource activities in its Toronto, London, Chicago and Menlo Park offices. White, who joined Northleaf this year after a career at TD Bank Group, will serve as vice president, human resources and administration. Replacing Sandra Channell, who has retired, she will be responsible for strategic planning for human capital needs and implementing best practices.

Rishi Garg, 39, who previously ran corporate development and strategy for Twitter and Square, has joined Mayfield as a partner to focus on consumer Internet deals. He becomes the sixth investment partner at Menlo Park, California-based Mayfield, joining Rajeev Batra, Navin Chaddha, Tom Chang, Ursheet Parikh and Robin Vasan. Mayfield earlier this year raised $525 million combined for two new funds.

The National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) and BDC Capital have given the 2016 Canadian Angel of the Year award to Manny Padda. The award, presented at NACO's National Angel Summit, recognizes an individual investor who has made a significant contribution to the growth and development Canada's angel ecosystem. Padda is the founder and managing director of New Avenue Capital, a Vancouver-based firm focused on venture capital, recruitment, private lending and real estate, and social venture and philanthropy. He has led the organization since 2010.

Northleaf Capital Partners has appointed Jon McKeown to the newly created role of director, investment solutions and distribution. McKeown will develop solutions to support the Toronto-based firm's global private markets investment strategies through new distribution channels, with a focus on pension funds, asset managers and financial institutions. McKeown joined Northleaf from asset manager Värde Partners, where he served as global head of strategy, risk and analytics. Prior to then, he was a principal with Bain & Co.
