VC-backed Cool Planet expands tech advisory board with three additions

Greenwood Village, Colorado-based Cool Planet, a renewable energy and ag tech company, has appointed Greg Butler, Anne Gaffney and James F. White to its technical advisory board. Butler is a managing diector of Clean Carbon Pty Ltd while Gaffney is director of process science and technology at Idaho National Laboratory. And, White is a named inventor on over 100 U.S. and non-U.S. patents. Cool Planet's backers include Google Ventures, Energy Technology Ventures and North Bridge Venture Partners.

VC-backed Dtex Systems adds ex-CISO for the DoD to board

San Jose, California-based Dtex Systems, a provider of insider threat protection solutions, has named Robert Lentz to its board of directors. Lentz is the former chief information security officer for the Department of Defense. Dtex is backed by Norwest Venture Partners and Wing Ventures.

VC-backed PokitDok adds four to leadership team

San Mateo, California and Charleston, South Carolina-based PokitDok, a provider of a cloud-based platform for handling healthcare transactions, has expanded its leadership staff with four new additions. Joining the company are Kent Elmer as chief financial officer; Jim Kelly as chief revenue officer; W. Bryan Smith as chief scientist; and Jack Lunn as vice president of professional services. PokitDok is backed by Lemhi Ventures, Rogers Venture Partners, New Atlantic Ventures and Subtraction Capital.

Trevisan joins CarGurus as CFO

CarGurus said Wednesday that Jason Trevisan has joined has CFO. Trevisan was previously a General Partner at Polaris Partners.

Grace named Hercules Technology Growth's general counsel, chief compliance officer

Hercules Technology Growth Capital Inc. has named Melanie Grace its General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Grace most recently served as the chief legal officer and corporate secretary of WHV Investments.

Trinity Ventures recruits Desi Hits' Acharia-Bath as a partner

Anjula Acharia-Bath has joined Trinity Ventures as a partner, the firm revealed in a Q & A with Acharia-Bath that was posted on its site. Acharia-Bath is a co-founder of Desi Hits, a South Asia-focused multimedia pop culture platform. She is also the manager of Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra. According to Crunchbase, Desi Hits' backers include D.E. Shaw & Co, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Trident Capital.

Barnes joins Hercules Technology Growth Capital

Tim Barnes has joined Hercules Technology Growth Capital Inc. to lead the firm’s new Los Angeles office. Barnes most recently served as Vice President at Silicon Valley Bank in Los Angeles.

Ex-Evernote CEO Libin joins General Catalyst

Phil Libin, co-founder and former CEO of the note-taking service Evernote, has joined General Catalyst Partners as a general partner in its Palo Alto, Calif.-based office. Libin had stepped down from Evernote in July. General Catalyst is not an investor in the Redwood City, Calif.-based company.

MPM Capital adds new MD to team

MPM Capital has named Dr. Mitchell H. Finer as managing director. Previously, Finer, who also serves on the board of MPM portfolio company Semma Therapeutics Inc, worked at bluebird.

VC-backed 500px names new VP and head of marketing

Toronto-based photo community and marketplace 500px has hired Ellen Desmarais as vice president and head of marketing. Previously, Desmarais worked at Getty Images where she served as vice president and general manager of iStock. The company's backers include Andreessen Horowitz, Harrison Metal, ff Venture Capital and Visual China Group.
