Vestar Capital Partners has hired two to its New York office, principal Evan Marks and vice president Victor Cohen.
Marks was formerly vice president of marketing at WebMD Health Corporation. He has worked with Vestar as an advisor for the past year, helping the firm source deals and manage investments in the healthcare sector.
Cohen comes from Capital Z/Union Square Partners, a private equity firm that focusses exclusively on the US and European financial services sectors. Before, he worked on corporate development and mergers and acquisitions at specialty insurance company Assurant.
Vestar has been expanding its operations all over the globe in recent months. Last November the firm opened its first office in Germany, and hired Candover partner Jens Tonn to lead the effort. Throughout 2007 the firm added three to its Japanese affiliate, Vestar Japan Advisors, including Red Diamond Capital’s Susumu Sekihata.
The firm currently manages around $7 billion (€4.7 billion), and has offices or affiliates in New York, Denver, Boston , Tokyo, Paris, Milan and Munich. It invests in businesses in the US, Europe and Asia with valuations ranging from $100 million up to $5 billion.
