3i bolsters Stockholm office with partner

3i has added an information technology veteran as a partner to its Stockholm office

3i, Europe’s largest quoted private equity business, has hired Jonas Risberg as partner to its global venture business. Risberg is responsible for investing in information technology and communications businesses in the Nordic region.

Risberg: joins from Swedish venture capital firm

Risberg joins 3i from InnovationsKapital, a Swedish early stage venture capital firm, where he was a partner investing in information technology from 2001.

Before that, he was vice president, Country Business Group at WorldCom, which went bankrupt in 2002, and before that was managing director at WorldCom Nordic for five years.

Risberg joins 3i’s team of nine partners across the Nordic region and will be based in 3i’s Stockholm office.

Last week Jim McLean, a US investor, joined 3i’s global venture capital team based in California, responsible for investing to drive growth in entrepreneurial information technology businesses.

In October, 3i also established a venture capital advisory board and created a team to invest in European quoted companies, which may not be suited to an all-cash take private transaction.
