Ashurst appoints new PE partner

Shaun Lascelles joins the firm from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom were he was co-head of the firm’s global private equity practice.

Ashurst has appointed Shaun Lascelles to join its private equity team in London as a partner, the firm said in a statement.

Lascelles joins the firm from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom were he was co-head of the US firm’s global private equity practice. He advises on a broad range of PE funds and state-owned investment funds, as well as other investment vehicles and specialises in cross-border M&A, the statement said.

Lascelles joined Skadden in 2002 after working as an associate at Ashurst from 1999 to 2002, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to that he was an associate at the Singapore office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.

Ashurst’s private equity practice covers transactions in Europe and Australia. Among its recent mandates it advised EmergeVest on its acquisition of Palletforce, TA Associates with Banca Leonardo, on the sale of their stake in asset manager DNCA, and Oakley Capital on its acquisition of German publishing company Parship, according to its website.

Lascelles’ appointment follows the hiring of David Stammers to the private equity team in Ashurst’s Sydney office last year. He joined from Clayton Utz where he was head of the private equity group, according to reports.
