Waterline Ventures targets $15 mln for second fund

Waterline Ventures is seeking to raise $15 million for its second fund, according to an SEC filing. The Cambridge, Massachusetts-based venture firm focuses on early-stage healthcare tech companies and services. Among its investments are RubiconMD, Zipnosis, Common Sensing and Redbrick Health.

Rosecliff Venture Partners collects $3 mln for initial fund

Rosecliff Venture Partners has raised $3 million for its debut fund, according to an SEC filing. The target is $10 million.

Mavrx picks up $10 mln Series A

San Francisco-based Mavrx, a provider of agricultural imaging, has raised $10 million in Series A funding, according to a blog post. Eclipse Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included Bloomberg Beta and Visionnaire Ventures.

GGV Capital leads Series B round for Operator

Operator, a conversational commerce company, has raised $15 million in Series B financing. GGV Capital led the round with participation from Formation8, Morningside Ventures, Horizons Ventures, Greylock Partners and Expa. In conjunction with the funding, Hugo Barra, vice president of global operations at Xiaomi, has been added to Operator's board of directors while Hans Tung, managing partner at GGV Capital, will become a board observer.

VC-backed Yummly appoints Borsellino as sales head

Silicon Valley-based Yummly, a platform for personalized recipes and cooking resources, has hired Tom Borsellino as head of sales. Previously, he worked at Houzz where he was director of brand advertising sales. Yummly's backers include Bauer Venture Partners, Physic Ventures, Unilever Corporate Ventures, First Round Capital, Harrison Metal Capital and Intel Capital.

Rittenhouse Ventures raises $18 mln for second fund

Rittenhouse Ventures has closed its second fund at $18 million. The limited partners of Rittenhouse Fund II includes Ben Franklin Technology Partners and Innovate in PA. Philadelphia-based Rittenhouse Ventures focuses on Mid-Atlantic software companies.

BrightLine scores $20 mln Series A

BrightLine, a provider of interactive television solutions for brands, has closed $20 million in Series A funding. Joe Moglia, the chairman of Fundamental Global Investors, led the round with participation from Pivotal Capital.

Healthbox taps Patel as president and COO

Healthbox Global Partners has appointed Neil Patel as president and chief operating officer. Patel's work background includes roles at The Chartis Group and at Sg2.

Anodot grabs $8 mln

Israel-based Anodot, a provider of real-time business incident detection solutions, has raised $8 million in funding. Aleph Venture Capital led the round with participation from Disruptive Technologies LP.

Avalara racks up $96 mln

Seattle-based Avalara Inc, a provider of tax compliance automation for businesses, has secured $96 million in overall funding. The investors included Sageview Capital, Battery Ventures, Warburg Pincus and Technology Crossover Ventures.
