BBH Capital Partners, the private equity arm of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., closed its fifth fund with $802 million in commitments, surpassing its $600 million target. BBH Capital Partners V LP included more than $110 million from the General Partner and Affiliates. BBH Capital Partners invests in sectors including healthcare; technology, media & telecommunications; and business products & services. Evercore’s Private Funds Group was the placement agent for Fund V, while Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP provided legal counsel.

Enterome Bioscience SA said April 20 it raised 14.5 million euroes ($16.5 million) in Series C financing led by existing investors, such as Seventure (including from its new Health for Life Capital fund) and Lundbeckfond Ventures, and included new investors. Nestlé Health Science also participated. Paris-based Enterome develops pharmaceuticals and diagnostics based on the gut microbiome.

Apax Partners has agreed to buy a controlling stake in Laureate International Universities France SAS, a French holding company that is comprised of five educational institutions. They include École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur, Institut Français de Gestion, European Business School, École Centrale d'Electronique and Centre d'Études Politiques et de la Communication. Bpifrance is coinvesting in the deal and will have 10 percent. Laureate Education Inc was the seller. Rothschild & Cie acted advised to Laureate Education while Gide Loyrette Nouel acted as their legal advisor. Lazard provided financial to Apax Partners, while Linklaters was their attorney.

A consortium including Apex Technology Co Ltd, PAG Asia Capital and Legend Capital Management Co Ltd have agreed to buy Lexmark International for about $4 billion. Lexington, Kentucky-based Lexmark provides print, imaging and data solutions. Advisors on the deal include Moelis & Company, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, and in China, Citi Orient, King & Wood Mallesons and BDO China Shu Lun Pan CPA.

Valtris Specialty Chemicals, a portfolio company of H.I.G. Capital, has acquired Akcros Holdings Ltd. Financial terms weren’t announced. Akcros provides specialty chemicals used as additives in the production and processing of polymers, paint, and coatings with operations in both Europe and North America. Battery Ventures said April 19 that it agreed to buy Goldleaf Enterprise Payments Inc (formerly known as Alogent Corp), from Jack Henry & Associates. Financial terms weren’t announced. Norcross, Georgia-based Alogent provides back-end software that focuses on electronically capturing, processing and analyzing check data and images, including those captured on mobile devices.
