Lightspeed Venture Partners, Matrix Partners and Northbridge Venture Partners joined to provide Plexxi, the cloud datacenter company, with a $20 million Series B, the company reported via its blog. The funding brings the company’s total capital raised to $28.38 million, founder and CEO Dave Husak said on the company’s site.

Private equity firm BB&T Capital Partners completed a control recapitalization of JML Optical Industries. The firm invested $9.7 million as part of the transaction. Senior debt for the transaction was provided by M&T Bank. M&T Investment Banking Group served as exclusive financial advisor to JML.

Niklas Eklund will join European VC Wellington Partners as a venture partner. The serial entrepreneur will work on digital media investments with portfolio companies and help Wellington seek out Nordic and other European opportunities. Among the companies he has worked on, is Wellington portfolio company Livebookings, of which he was co-founder and CEO.

Kellwood, a fashion brands company belonging to Florida-based private equity firm Sun Capital Partners, will acquire Zobha, a yoga and fitness apparel manufacturer. The acquisition of the Calif.-based company marks the first activewear business to join Kellwood’s portfolio. Specifics of the deal were not disclosed.

AES Solar, the Virginia-based joint venture between AES Corporation and Riverstone Holdings LLC, just completed a €68 Million financing of a solar photovoltaic project in Italy. The solar power company also has more projects in Greece, France and Bulgaria.

Vringo, the software platform developer for mobile and video applications, closed a private placement of convertible notes for $2.5 million mostly with Benchmark Capital and DAG Ventures, the company announced. Vringo also revealed it will acquire and merge operations with Zlango Ltd, a mobile messaging company. Specifics of the deal were not disclosed.
