BrightTag Inc., maker of a digital marketing platform, has added $5 million in fresh capital from New World Ventures, TomorrowVentures, EPIC Ventures and the I2A Fund. The company has raised a total of $8 million to date. The newest infusion will help Chicago-based BrightTag bolster its sales efforts.

U.S. Venture Partners led the round, which included participation from existing investors Battery Ventures and Greylock Partners. Along with the funding, the company announced that its enterprise-focused “Zerto Virtual Replication” product is commercially available. The company is based in Israel and Boston.

Buddy Media, which helps advertisers and brands manage their presence on social networking sites like Facebook, has raised $54 million in new financing, the company announced Monday. Buddy Media sealed a $500 million valuation with the current round, according to media reports. GGV Capital, Institutional Venture Partners and Bay Partners, as well as new investor Insight Venture Partners contributed to the Series D funding. GGV partner Jeff Richards is joining the company’s board.

Pulmatrix, a Lexington, Mass.-based biotech company, has closed on $14 million in Series B1 financing. All of the company’s existing investors participated, including Polaris Venture Partners, 5AM Ventures, Arch Venture Partners, and Novartis Venture Fund. eBay has completed its $240 million acquisition of Zong, the mobile carrier billing firm. Zong is now part of eBay's PayPal division. Before the acquisition, first announced earlier this summer, Zong was based in Menlo Park, Calif. Zong received venture financing from Matrix Partners, Advent Venture Partners and Newbury Ventures.

The company’s backers include OrbiMed Advisors, CTI Life Sciences Fund, Desjardins Venture Capital and Lothian Partners. BofA Merrill Lynch acted as the exclusive placement agent to the company.
