Candover, a European buyout house, has opened a office in Milan, and hired Laura Marangione from French bank BNP Paribas as an investment manager.
Aldo Maccari, who has now relocated from London to Milan, will head the team. Maccari joined Candover in September 2005.
Marangione joins Candover from BNP’s corporate finance team in Milan, where she worked on a number of buyout transactions.
Marek Gumienny, managing director of Candover, said: “Expanding our footprint and our team has been an important priority for us over the last twelve months. We have hired six new team members so far this year, and will be joined by a further five over the next month or so.”
The firm hired Humphrey Cobbold, a senior executive from Trinity Mirror, a UK newspaper group, to coordinate its deal-sourcing activity in May this year. At the same time it appointed four investment managers to improve its European presence.
Rival Doughty Hanson said yesterday it had opened an office in Spain.
