Cortec Group has named Robert Whipple as a managing director. Previously, Whipple was a principal at Apax Partners. Also, the New York-based private equity firm recently promoted Jack Miner to vice president and hired Nick Cooper as an associate. Miner has been with Cortec since 2011 while Cooper previously worked at Piper Jaffray & Co as an analyst.

Värde Partners has named two of the alternative investment firm's partners Ilfryn Carstairs and Jeremy Hedberg as co-chief investment officers. Both will join current CIO George Hicks, who is also the firm’s CEO. Carstairs and Hedberg's appointments become effective January 1, 2017. Hicks will step down from being a co-CIO on January 1, 2018 and focus solely on being the company's CEO.
