Insight Venture Partners beefs up staff with five new additions

Insight Venture Partners has added five new venture partners to its team. They are Jason Ewell, Josh Gray, Karl Karlsson, Emmet B. Keeffe III and Thilo Semmelbauer. All will join Nick Sinai as part of Insight’s Onsite team. Ewell is a former vice president of Travelclick; Gray is a former vice president at Oracle; Karlsson is a co-founder of China Internet Ventures; Keeffe is a co-founder and CEO of iRise; and Semmelbauer is the former president and COO of Shutterstock.

Stonybrook ups Arps to director

Stonybrook Capital has promoted Ravi D. Arps to director. Arps joined Stonybrook in 2012. Previously, he worked at Bridgewater Associates and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Partner leaves Monitor Clipper, which has switched to deal-by-deal investing

Partner Charles Yoon has left Monitor Clipper Partners, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based buyout shop that suspended its most recent fundraising earlier this year to instead work on a deal-by-deal basis.

Hall joins One Inc.

One Inc., a portfolio company of H&Q Asia Pacific, said Tuesday that Steve Hall was named Executive Vice President - Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. Most recently Hall was President and CEO of Duck Creek Technologies.

Rockers joins D.A. Davidson

D.A. Davidson & Co. said Monday that Chris Rockers has joined its investment banking team as managing director in the firm’s energy practice. Rockers is the co-founder of ESC Solutions and previously worked at a variety of firms, including Alpina Capital, FTI Consulting and Falkenberg Capital.

PEPG adds two private equity execs to board of directors

Private Equity Principals Group, a networking group for private equity investing professionals, has named Leigh J. Abramson and Matthew Guenther to its board of directors. Abramson is a managing director at Metalmark Capital while Guenther is a partner at GenNx360 Capital.

Carlyle, Blackstone, Macquarie and Northern Trust are hiring

This week's jobs include a ventures head of operations at Blackstone and a portfolio management vice president at Carlyle. Also up for grabs is an associate spot at Northern Trust Corp.

Preston Hollow Capital expands team with two additions

Preston Hollow Capital has hired Stuart Fink as senior credit underwriter and Max Pickle as director of human resources. Previously, Fink worked at GE Capital where he served as a securitization manager while Pickle was a recruiting manager at ORIX USA Corporation.

Secondaries MD Butler leaves Portfolio Advisors

Ryan Butler, a managing director and top secondary dealmaker at Portfolio Advisors, left the firm this month, Brian Murphy, managing director, confirmed for Buyouts.

Law firm Duane Morris recruits PE attorney Gluck to team

Global law firm Duane Morris has added Scott Gluck to its corporate practice group. Gluck is an advisor to the Association for Corporate Growth's private equity regulatory task force. Gluck has joined Duane Morris' Washington, D.C.'s office where he will focus on the regulatory, compliance and corporate activities of private equity firms.
