Riverstone's Meritage Midstream Services to open office in Calgary

Meritage Midstream Services III LP, a partnership backed by U.S. private equity firm Riverstone Holdings, plans to soon open its Canadian office in Calgary. The office will be led by energy industry veteran Michael Hantzsch, who has been hired as senior vice president, Canada. Meritage, which has entered into an agreement with Canadian International Oil Corp to build local crude oil and natural gas infrastructure, received a US$300 million commitment from Riverstone in April. The partnership is focused on midstream opportunities in Western Canada.

Belluzo named Viavi Solutions' interim president and CEO

Viavi Solutions Inc. said Tuesday that it named Chairman Richard E. Belluzzo as interim president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Tom Waechter, Viavi’s president and CEO, has stepped down. He will be pursuing other business and personal interests. The Viavi Board is commencing a search for a permanent president and chief executive officer. Belluzzo is currently U.S. Venture Partner for Innogest SpA and consults with The Gores Group and Bravosolution.

Booth joins TwinBrook Capital

Betsy Booth has joined TwinBrook Capital Partners as VP of Underwriting, executives for the firm confirmed. Most recently, Booth was a senior associate at Ares Capital Management. Booth, before that, was an Assistant VP at Madison Capital Funding. TwinBrook Capital is the middle market direct lending subsidiary of Angelo, Gordon & Co.

UBS taps Goldman Sachs' Justicz as MD

UBS has named Max Justicz as a managing director in its Americas Financial Sponsors group, the company announced today in a memo. Justicz will join UBS in the fall and be coming from Goldman Sachs. There he has served as primary coverage banker for various private equity firms and their portfolio companies that include Carlyle, CVC Capital, BC Partners, Permira, Riverstone, Silver Lake, Jordan, New Mountain Capital, Oak Hill and CCMP Capital.

Braunstein joins Aisling Capital as Operating Partner

Dr. Scott Braunstein has joined Aisling Capital as an Operating Partner. Dr. Braunstein serves as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development at Pacira Pharmaceuticals.

Cox named CEO of the Wet Seal

The Wet Seal said Monday that it named Melanie Cox its CEO. Cox succeeds Ed Thomas who is stepping down. Cox was previously chief merchandising manager for retailers including Urban Outfitters, Contempo Casuals (which was acquired by Wet Seal) and The Clothestime. The Wet Seal is a portfolio company of Versa Capital Management LLC.

PE-backed Metals Inc appoints Zahner as president

Metals Inc, which is backed by Peak Rock Capital, has hired David Zahner as president. The appointment is effective immediately. Recently, Zahner worked at Ryerson where he served as general manager. Ohio-based Metals Inc is a metal distributor.

Quantum beefs up team with two additions

Energy-focused private equity firm Quantum Energy Partners has appointed Charles D. Davidson as a venture partner and Anthony J. Best as a senior advisor. Davidson is a former CEO and chairman of the board of Noble Energy Inc while Best is a former president and CEO of SM Energy Company.

IG Group CFO resigns to join investment firm Hargreaves: Reuters

Online trading platform provider IG Group Holdings Plc said its chief financial officer, Chris Hill, would leave the company early next year to join British investment firm Hargreaves Lansdown Plc as CFO.
