Private equity-owned Maxeda has disposed of Hema, selling the Dutch department store to retail specialist Lion Capital. Maxeda continues to prove a successful investment for the consortium of KKR, Cinven, AlpInvest and Permira that recapitalised the retail group last year.

The Thomson Corporation has agreed to sell the higher education assets from its Thomson Learning division to Apax and OMERS for $7.75 billion. The transaction includes Canadian educational materials provider Nelson Canada, in which OMERS will have majority ownership.

Permira has bought a 29.6 percent stake in Valentino Fashion Group, stealing in ahead of Carlyle for a stake in the Italian fashion company, which also controls German-listed Hugo Boss.
