- Highstar wins $700m Port of Oakland concession
Ports America, a stevedore owned by Highstar Capital, beat our eight other competitors for a 50 year concession to improve and operate five berths at the California port, the US’ third busiest by container volume. The contract is the first of its kind for US marine terminals.

Principals from Carlyle, Macquarie, RREEF and Industry Funds Management gathered today cautioned that market will not develop across America’s ‘fifty little countries’ without strong leadership from the government in creating incentives for private investment in infrastructure.

The firm has shut down its $500m North American Infrastructure Fund, blaming the slow pace of US infrastructure investments.
- Vattenfall German grid auction reportedly a one horse race
A consortium of heavyweight investors including Allianz, RREEF and Goldman Sachs, is reportedly the sole remaining bidder in the auction to acquire the Swedish energy company’s German transmission grid.
- Arcandor files for bankruptcy
The German retailer needed state loans to renew credit lines worth up to €710m by Friday. That request was denied. Goldman Sachs’ Whitehall funds, RREEF, Pirelli Real Estate, Generali and the Borletti Group own a portfolio of Arcandor real estate.
