M&A exits dip but IPOs finish the year strong

M&A activity by U.S.-based financial sponsors dipped in 2013 following a strong end to 2012 and a subdued fourth quarter of 2013. But the buyout-backed IPO market surged in the last quarter of 2013, while a majority of sponsored companies that went public over the year found their shares trading up from their offering price.
