New York State Common approves $925m in commitments

The US public pension has backed six private equity funds.

New York State Common Retirement Fund has approved $925 million-worth of private equity commitments to six vehicles, according to the pension’s November monthly report.

The commitments comprise of $20 million to NexPhase Capital Fund IV, $65 million to MBK Partners V, $20 million to Fortissimo Capital V, $20 million to Polaris “Jewel” Capital Fund V, $400 million to Green Equity Investors VIII and $400 million to SSG Capital Partners V.

The $215.54 billion US public pension has a 10.0 percent target allocation to private equity, which currently stands at 9.60 percent.

As illustrated below, the Fund has made several commitments to private equity funds with a 2019 or 2020 vintage, which combined constitute $3.14 billion.
