Spark hires itself an MP

The investment group has hired a politician, former Treasury Minister John Maples.

NewMedia Spark has appointed MP and former Treasury Minister John Maples as a non-executive director, to replace Per Lundberg who has resigned.

 

Maples is currently an MP for Stratford-on-Avon and a member of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee and Council Member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs.

 

Before this he was in number of political positions including treasury minister, deputy chairman of the Conservative party, shadow foreign secretary and shadow secretary of state for health and defence.

 

Maples' other directorships include non-executive chairman of Advanced Visual Technology and non-executive director of Value Retail. 

 

He was also chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi government communications worldwide.

 

Maples also has some fund management experience having been jointly responsible for Newton Asset Management’s Wellington BES Fund, which invested in smaller companies.
