Fuel50 has raised a $2.5 million Series A round led by Rincon Venture Partners and Bonfire Ventures. Fuel50 provides career pathing software for companies.

Canvas leads $35 mln funding in real estate marketplace Roofstock

Oakland-based Roofstock, a provider of an online real estate marketplace for single-family rental homes, announced it has raised $35 million in a Series C round of funding led by Canvas Ventures. Existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Nyca Partners, QED Investors and FJ Labs also participated in the round. The company, formerly known as DwellConnect, had previously raised about $33 million in funding, including a $20 million Series B round late last year.

Sandhya Venkatachalam joins Social Capital's growth investing team

Social Capital has added Sandhya Venkatachalam as a partner focused on its growth equity investing. Previously, she was a co-founding partner at investment adviser firm Centerview Capital Technology. And she previously led Skype's advertising and monetization before and after its sale to Microsoft, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Wing Partner Martin Giles returns to journalism

Wing Venture Capital Partner Martin Giles, who joined the Menlo Park, California-based firm in early 2015 to develop its intellectual capital, announced on his LinkedIn profile that he is heading back to his first love of journalism. Battery Ventures has made a "significant" investment in Victoria, British Columbia-based Latitude Geographics Group Ltd., a provider of web-based mapping software. No financial terms were disclosed.

Boston Scientific Corp to buy VC-backed Apama Medical

Boston Scientific Corp has agreed to acquire Campbell-California-based medical device firm Apama Medical Inc for $300 million, which includes $175 million in cash upfront. Apama's backers included Ascension Ventures, Medvance Incubator Partners, ONSET Ventures and Incept.

VC-backed Ablynx files for IPO

Ablynx, a Belgian biopharmaceutical company, has filed for an IPO. The number of shares that will be sold as well as the stock's pricing terms have yet to be set. Ablynx, which currently trades on the Euronext Brussels, is planning on listing its U.S. stock on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol ABLX.” BofA Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan and Jefferies are the lead underwriters. According to Crunchbase, Ablynx's backers include Abingworth, Alta Partners, Gimv and Sofinnova Partners.

Biotech company Recursion Pharmaceuticals fetches $60 mln Series B

Salt Lake City-based Recursion Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company, has secured $60 million in Series B financing. Data Collective led the round.
