Lexington, Massachusetts-based Quanterix Corporation, a company digitizing biomarker analysis, has closed $8.5 million in a private placement. T. Rowe Price Associates was the lead investor. Also, Quanterix appointed Dr. Marijn Dekkers, the former CEO of Bayer AG and Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc, to its board of directors.

Los Altos, California and Salt Lake City-based Primary Data, a creator of an enterprise metadata engine, has raised a total of $40 million in funding. Included was $20 million from investors that included Pelion Venture Partners, Accel and Battery Ventures as well as a $20 million line of credit to support sales acceleration.

Hearst led the round with participation from other investors that included EDBI, Evolution Media, Sky PLC, Catcha Group, Liberty Global, Jungle Ventures and PLDT Inc. Moelis & Company LLC, Delta Partners and Herbert Smith Freehills advised iflix on the transaction.

Tokyo Smoke, a Toronto-based cannabis lifestyle and retail brand, has raised C$4 million in the first close of its Series B financing. The round, which is expected to this month to exceed C$5 million, was led by Aphria Inc, a Canadian medical cannabis producer, and Green Acre Capital, a Canadian cannabis-focused private investment firm, and joined by new and existing investors. Smoke was founded in 2015 by CEO Alan Gertner and Chairman Lorne Gertner.

Bread, a provider of pay-over-time solutions for online merchants, has closed $126 million in equity and debt financing. Menlo Ventures led the equity round with participation from other investors that included Bessemer Venture Partners and RRE Ventures. Victory Park Capital provided the debt facility. Concurrent with the funding, Mark Siegel, Menlo’s managing partner, will be joining Bread’s board of directors.
