Hennessy named CEO of Vroom

Vroom has it named Paul J. Hennessy its CEO effective June 8. He succeeds co-founder Allon Bloch, who will continue with the Company as a senior advisor. Hennessy most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of priceline.com. Also, Robert J. Mylod Jr., former CFO and Vice Chairman of The Priceline Group, and current Vroom board member, has been named Non-Executive Chairman of the Vroom Board of Directors. Vroom in 2015 raised $54 million in funding from investors including Catterton, General Catalyst Partners and T. Rowe Price Associates Inc.

TA Associates invests in Maintenance Connection

TA Associates has made a growth equity investment in Maintenance Connection Inc. Financial terms weren’t announced. Maintenance Connection provides computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software. Lane Powell PC served as legal counsel to Maintenance Connection. Goodwin Procter LLP served as legal counsel to TA Associates. Lane Powell PC served as legal counsel to Maintenance Connection.

CrowdFlower raises $10 mln

CrowdFlower said June 7 that it raised $10 million in venture funding led by Canvas Ventures, Trinity Ventures and Microsoft. San Francisco-based CrowdFlower provides a platform for data science teams to help them collect, clean and label their data at scale.

Safe Fleet buys FleetMind Solutions

Safe Fleet, a portfolio company of the Sterling Group, said June 7 that it acquired FleetMind Solutions Inc. Montreal-based FleetMind provides onboard computing (OBC) systems that help waste and recycling fleets to link their drivers and vehicles to business operations.

Helpshift raises $23 mln

Helpshift said June 7 that it raised $23 million in Series B financing from new investors, Microsoft Ventures and Salesforce Ventures. All previously existing investors, including Intel Capital, Nexus Venture Partners, True Ventures and Visionnaire Ventures, also participated. San Francisco-based Helpshift provide software to help companies deal with their customers on mobile devices. Helpshift said it has raised a total of $36.2 million.

Monterro buys 60 percent of Hypergene

Monterro said June 8 it acquired 60 percent of Hypergene. Financial terms weren’t announced. Hypergene, of Sweden, provides web- based planning, monitoring and analysis software.

Northern Pacific Group buys Merrill Brink International, KJ International Resources

Northern Pacific Group said June 8 it acquired Merrill Brink International and KJ International Resources to form United Language Group (ULG). Financial terms weren’t announced. Yukon Partners provided mezzanine financing. Minneapolis-based ULG is a language-services company. Bell Capital Finance provided a senior credit facility while Backbone Capital Advisors assisted in the arrangement of debt financing. Fredrikson & Byron PA served as legal counsel to Northern Pacific Group.

TA Associates buys Conservice

TA Associates said June 8 that it invested in Conservice. Financial terms weren’t announced. Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, the seller, will remain an investor. Logan, Utah-based Conservice provides utility management software and billing solutions to property owners and managers. Goodwin Procter provided legal counsel services to TA Associates. Perkins Coie served as legal counsel to Conservice.

Pfingsten Partners buys Kith Kitchens

Pfingsten Partners LLC said June 7 that it has acquired Kith Kitchens LLC. Financial terms weren’t announced. Haleyville, Alabama-based Kith provides customizable kitchen and bath cabinets. Paul Hastings served as legal advisor to Pfingsten. Arlington Capital Advisors served as financial advisor to Kith Kitchens.

ABA English raises $12 mln

ABA English has raised $12 million in growth capital led by Kennet Partners. Barcelona-based ABA English is online English language academy that uses videos aimed to replicate the ‘natural method’ of language learning.
