Qu Biologics raises $2.5 mln

Qu Biologics Inc. said Thursday that it has closed an oversubscubscribed private financing of C$3.5 million (US$2.5 million). It did not disclose investors. Qu Biologics has raised over C$19 million to date. Qu Biologics, a Vancouver, British Columbia-based biotech, develops immunotherapies aimed to restore normal immune function.

Shanghai Zhangjiang Science &Technology Investment Corp., along with private investors, have invested over $2 million in Anpac Bio-Medical Science Co. Anpac Bio-Medical is developing an early cancer screening and detection technology.

EQT has agreed to buy a majority of Lima Corporate. Financial terms weren’t announced. Ardian is the seller. San Daniele del Friuli, Italy-based Lima is a medical device company that provides reconstructive orthopaedic solutions.

Varsity Brands buys allgoods

Varsity Brands, a portfolio company of Charlesbank Capital Partners and Partners Group, has acquired allgoods LLC. Financial terms weren’t announced. Arlington, Texas-based allgoods is an apparel-oriented fundraising company that generates funds through the sale of custom merchandise.

Eastern Generation buys Power Asset portfolio from Tenaska

Eastern Generation LLC, a portfolio company of ArcLight Capital Partners LLC, said Wednesday that it acquired a natural gas and dual-fuel fired portfolio consisting of seven power generation plants totaling 4.8 GW from Tenaska Capital Management LLC. Financial terms weren’t announced.

GE backs Arbor Investments majority stake in DPI Specialty

GE Capital, Corporate Finance provided a $180 million loan for Arbor Investments buy of a majority stake in DPI Specialty Foods Inc. Ontario, Calif.-based DPI Specialty Foods sells gourmet, ethnic, organic and better-for-you foods to national, regional and independent retailers.

Schryver Medical Sales and Marketing LLC, a portfolio company of Revelstoke Capital Partners, has acquired Community Portable X-Ray Inc. and MetroStat Clinical Laboratory Inc. / MetroStat Diagnostic Services Inc. Financial terms weren’t announced. Community Portable X‐Ray, of Plano, Texas, provides mobile x-ray and EKG exams to long-term health care facilities, home care, psychiatric hospitals, industrial sites, dialysis centers and athletic teams. Garland, Texas-based MetroStat offers clinical laboratory services, mobile X‐ray, and other mobile imaging services in the state of Texas. Perkins Coie LLP and Winston & Strawn LLP were lawyers for Schryver.

PsiKick raises $16.5 mln

PsiKick said Wednesday that it raised $16.5 million in Series B financing led by Osage University Partners. Also participating were existing investors New Enterprise Associates, the University of Michigan Investment in New Technologies Fund (MINTS), as well as individual angels. PsiKick, of Santa Clara, California, is developing wireless, self-powering Internet of Things systems.
