BVCA begins search for new chief executive(3)

The UK trade body has begun the search for a new chief executive in the wake of Peter Linthwaite’s resignation last month.

The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has hired head hunter Odgers Ray & Berndtson to find a replacement for Peter Linthwaite, who resigned from the organisation in June.

The BVCA has established a search committee that comprises chairman Wol Kolade, vice chairman Jeremy Hand of Lyceum Capital, Simon Havers of Baird Capital Partners Europe and Jo Taylor of 3i.

Former UK Secretary of State Virginia Bottomley is leading the team at Odgers Ray & Berendtson.

The BVCA has been thrust into the spotlight in recent months as the UK private equity industry has been condemned by trade unions and politicians for asset-stripping and profiteering.

PEO reported yesterday that the BVCA has hosted the first of two roundtable talks with the Trade Union Congress (TUC) as it seeks to placate its fiercest group of critics.
