CTPF approves $200m in commitment

The Chicago-based pension fund makes its largest private equity commitment.

Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund has approved a $200 million commitment to a fund of one vehicle managed by Adams Street Partners, a contact at the pension fund told Private Equity International.

The commitment is the biggest private equity allocation for the US public pension fund. Adams Street Partners is the largest partner for the pension’s private equity portfolio; managing approximately $305 million out of the $736 million portfolio.

CTPF has a target allocation of 5 percent to private equity investment which stands at 5 percent.

Recent fund commitments made by the $13.1 billion pensions have predominantly targeted North American growth equity and buyout vehicles targeting multiple sectors.
