CVC Capital Partners, the European private equity firm, has announced the appointment of Miles Templeman to the firm’s advisory board. The former Whitbread managing director will provide advice to the firm’s current and future acquisitions in the European drinks sector.
At Whitbread, Templeman was responsible for the strategic development of the company, increasing the division’s turnover to £1bn and taking market share from 12 per cent to 16 per cent. Prior to his role at Whitbread, he was managing director of Threshers Off Licences, and as marketing and sales director, at Levi Strauss.
CVC chairman Michael Smith said that the appointment was in keeping with CVC’s strategy of recruiting industry specialists across a range of sectors. The appointment comes as firms look to position themselves for a number of potential large-scale LBOs currently being touted, including the sale of the Kwik-Fit automobile business and Diageo’s Burger King.CVC Capital Partners specialises in large scale MBOs/MBIs transactions across the UK and Continental Europe. Founded in 1981 as Citicorp’s European private equity arm, CVC completed a management buy-out in 1993. The firm currently has total funds under management of £5bn with offices in 11 European countries.
