Alvarez & Marsal expands Latin America practice

Alvarez & Marsal said Wednesday that it made some additions to its Latin America practice. Fabio Pires and Avlaro Araujo have joined the firm. Both are Managing Directors. Sergio Aguilar and David Arrabiot have also joined as Senior Directors.

Twin Brook Capital beefs up team with two new additions

Twin Brook Capital, a lending subsidiary of Angelo, Gordon & Co, has appointed Betsy Booth as a vice president of underwriting. Previously, Booth worked at Ares Capital Management where she served as a senior associate. And, as previously reported by PE HUB, Twin Brook recently hired Michael LaBelle as a vice president of underwriting. Prior to joining Twin Brook, LaBelle worked at National Express Corporation where he was a director in corporate development.

MSD Capital hires New Mountain's Londal as PE head

MSD Capital LP, the private investment firm that manages the capital of Michael Dell and his family, has hired Douglas Londal as a partner and private equity head.

Makena Capital Management taps Clayton as vice chair and former ambassador Burns for board

Makena Capital Management has named Kevin Clayton as vice chairman. Clayton, who is a former principal at Oaktree Capital Management LP, will also join Makena's board of directors. Also, Makena has added now retired U.S. foreign diplomat William Burns to the board of directors and named him a special advisor. Burns is the president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He has also served as Deputy Secretary of State under John Kerry and Hillary Clinton and was U.S. Ambassador to Jordan under President Bill Clinton and U.S. Ambassador to Russia under President George W. Bush.

PE-backed Kastle hires business development VC and chief legal counsel

Kastle Therapeutics, which is backed by Flexpoint Ford, has named Michael Shih as vice president of business development and chief legal counsel. Previously, Shih worked at Epizyme Inc where he served as vice president of business development. Based in Chicago, Kastle is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing drugs for diseases with "high unmet medical needs."

Newman joins Crossmark

David Newman is joining Crossmark as Chief Insights Officer on Sept 21. Newman recently worked for Pharmavite as Vice President Customer Marketing & Sales Strategy. Crossmark is a portfolio company of Warburg Pincus.

Dyal Capital hires Dyment to head business services platform

Dyal Capital Partners has appointed John Dyment as head of its business services platform. Previously, Dyment built and managed Goldman's capital introduction business and Deutsche Bank's global hedge fund capital group. Dyal is Neuberger Berman's private equity unit.

Richard Yen will oversee the firm’s digital and internet growth equity investments.

Saban Capital Group promotes Yen to MD

Saban Capital Group Inc has promoted Richard Yen to managing director of private equity. Yen, who is based in San Francisco, has been with the firm since June 2008. Previously, Yen worked at Blueprint Ventures where he served as a principal.
