SV Health Investors has promoted Houman Ashrafian to managing partner and Greg Madden to partner. Ashrafian joined SV in 2016 as a venture partner while Madden came on board as an analyst in 2002.

BVI has agreed to acquire PhysIOL, a Belgian medical device company, from TA Associates. No financial terms were disclosed. TPG Capital is backing the deal. Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., Goldman Sachs, RBC Capital Markets and William Blair provided financial advice to BVI and TPG on the transaction while Ropes & Gray LLP served as legal counsel. And, Jefferies International Ltd served as financial adviser to PhysIOL with Baker McKenzie providing legal counsel.

Relay Therapeutics said Dec. 20 that it raised $400 million in Series C financing led by the SoftBank Vision Fund. New investors included Foresite Capital, Perceptive Advisors and Tavistock Group. Existing investors GV, Casdin Capital, BVF Partners, EcoR1 Capital, Alexandria Venture Investments, and an affiliate of D.E. Shaw Research also participated. Relay Therapeutics, of Cambridge, Massachusetts, is a biotech.

Centerbridge Partners LP said Dec. 18 that it agreed to buy Civitas Solutions Inc for about $1.4 billion or $17.75 a share cash. Sellers include Vestar Capital Partners. Civitas, of Boston, provides home and community health services to people with disabilities.
